Mt. Rushmore of Fast Food

So I spent this last week in Yakima for the 1A Basketball State Tournament. We took 6th by the way. Definitely an overachievement from our expectations. Good stuff.

While in Yakima I ate lots of fast food. Thats just part of the state tournament. There are a few places that are uniquely Yakima (Minors, Majors, Rons Tacos) and tons that are nationwide (McDonalds, Subway, KFC). I got to try Sonic for the first time in my life. I liked it but it didn't quite live up to my expectations.

Anyways, this got me to thinking about my Mount Rushmore of Fast Food.

4. Taco Time Mexi-Fries. That is what separates Taco Time from Taco Bell. Sometime when I was in high school Taco Bell decided that Mexi-Fries weren't good anymore. They were wrong. Mexi-Fries are the greatest side snack other than fries. Would you go to McDonalds without french fries? I didn't think so. Another thing, why would I want to go to a "Tri-Restaurant" These are anything but restful. The Taco Bell/Pizza Hit/KFC establishment needs to stop. I don't want to smell mashed potatoes and breadsticks with my Gordito. Also, Chipotle has better burritos than Taco Time...but there is a limited menu and its a bit expensive. And of course no Mexi-Fries.

3. Panda Express Just give me Orange Chicken! My meals here are not so frequent because they are rare around town since their departure from Bell Square. But their Orange Chicken is amazing. A little rice, a little chow-mein and 2 orders of Orange Chicken. I've never had better Orange Chicken. Not at P.F. Changs. Not at Golden Chopsticks. Not at Yao Ming's house.

2. Subway Don't give me the junk about Quiznard's (thats what my friend Jesy's mom calls it) being better than Subway. It's not true. The last time I had Quizno's I threw up. No joke. Right in the parking lot after. I will never go back. The ingredients at Subway are much fresher and they don't get annoyed when you ask for more ingredients. Quizno's started the "toasting" phenomenon but Subway has perfected it. Plus, you can't replace the M&M cookies and the Raspberry Iced Tea. My favorite order: Footlong Chicken, Bacon, Ranch on Italian Herbs and Cheese. Toasted with Pepperjack Cheese, Green Peppers, Onions, Lettuce then Ranch and Chipotle Sauce. With a doozie of salt and pepper.

1. Nasai Teriyaki This could be considered sit down but I get take out more than anything. The "Spicy Special" is a weekly staple in my diet. And I don't understand the people that pay an extra dollar for brown rice. Is white rice really not healthy enough? The rest of the world has been eating white rice for 2,000 years.

  1. Couldn't agree more about #3. Couldn't agree less about #2. And I'm one stamp away from a free meal at #1!
